PRICE – Jeane Biddinger, a woman of grace, graciousness and goodness, returned Friday, June 1, 2012, to the arms of her husband, our father. We know that her nimble mind, dampened all these years by Alzheimer’s disease, is even now searching for biographies to read, crosswords to puzzle out and new crafts to explore.
We know she’s obtained the contentedness she once found sitting with her puzzle book in their Ferron Reservoir cabin, waiting for Lloyd to return from fishing. And we know that above all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Her warm, welcoming smile will be what we remember.
Our mother was born Lois Jeane Johnston Aug. 23, 1924, in Midway, Utah, to Paralee Amanda Miles and John Johnston. The youngest by far in her family of seven, she grew up in Provo spoiled and adored by older brothers and sisters. It was at Brigham Young University during World War II that she met M. Lloyd Biddinger, who left soon afterward to join the war effort. They were married in Denver June 17, 1945 between dad’s induction into Army Air Corps flight school and the actual training. She spent many months dodging spiders in Pecos, Texas.
After the war, Lloyd found work in Price, where they were to raise their six children. She was a wonderful mom, who worked the scoreboard at Little League games and loved to play board games. Saturday was bread day, even after she began working at the Price office of the U.S. Forest Service, a job she held for years and enjoyed. She provided for her children a footing of hard work, fortitude, creativity and kindness that will remain with us.
Perhaps her happiest years were those she and Lloyd spent as LDS temple workers in the Manti Temple. Mom was a faithful member of the LDS Church; she and Lloyd were sealed in the Manti Temple.
Jeane’s curious, loving spirit will always remain with us, her children: Richard and Nancy Biddinger of Highland; Sue and Kirk Jacobson of Cleveland, currently serving an LDS mission in South Dakota; Jerri and Miles Brown of Brigham City; David and Debbie Biddinger of West Valley City; Janelle and Rod Hyatt of Ogden; and Bonnie and Louie Frucci of Eden. She leaves numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For all the loss at her passing we know she was welcomed into the arms of her sweetheart, Lloyd, and her beloved mother.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary Chapel (680 East 100 South – Price, Utah). A viewing will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and on Wednesday from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Cliffview Cemetery.
