LAWRENCE-Robert Kent Kelly, age 66, passed away June 27, 2012 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Feb. 5, 1946 in Dragerton, Utah to George and Ruth LeRoy Kelly.
Kent married Paulette Hansen Feb. 5, 1966 in Elko, Nev. while on leave from the Air Force. After returning from the service, he joined the Utah National Guard and made his home in Emery County.
Kent loved the area and for the next 30 years he worked at Genwal, Des-Bee Dove and Deer Creek mines while raising his wonderful family.
In 2008, he retired from Deer Creek where he was a dedicated member of the United Mine Workers of America Local # 1769.
Kent was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved everything about the outdoors and was happiest while camping, fishing, hunting or riding 4-wheelers with his family. Grandpa Kent was an incredible storyteller who loved sharing his tall tales with his grandchildren.
Survived by his wife, Paulette Kelly, Lawrence; sons, J.P. (Lindsay) Kelly, Huntington, Ryan (Tabitha) Kelly, Elmo, Vince Kelly, Lawrence; sister, Judy (Roy) Payton, Price; seven grandchildren, Devin, Isaac, Grace, Madden, Easton, Dacen and Kayslee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Kathyrn Malone and Lisa Kelly.
Graveside service, Monday, July 2, 2012, 11 a.m., Lawrence Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Kent at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
