The Bureau of Land Management, Price Field Office, presented a patent for the Emery County shooting range facilities complex near Castle Dale on July 13.
The 40-acre parcel has been transferred to Emery County for the continued use as a trap shooting range and establishment of a rifle range.
The development of a rifle range in addition to the skeet range will enhance the recreational value to those who enjoy skeet and target shooting. Public safety on and adjacent to the parcel will be increased with the addition of a fence that will be constructed around the 40-acre parcel. The fence will control access to the shooting range and alert anyone on adjacent land as to the location of the shooting range.
BLM Price Field Manager, Trish Clabaugh, presented Commissioner James Nelson with the patent at the shooting range facility complex. Also present were Commissioner Laurie Pitchforth, Public Lands Director Ray Petersen, and BLM Realty Specialist Connie Leschin.
The process to complete a patent is very time consuming and involves various legal requirements to be met before the patent process is finalized.
The BLM and Emery County worked closely together to complete this process and are both pleased with the final results. They look forward to working together on future projects to benefit the local residents.
Other land which the county has partnered with the BLM for a patent was for increasing the acreage for the Emery County landfill.
