Castle Dale has become a Community Covenant Community. In a ceremony during the recent Emery County fair, Sgt. Ryan Palmer from the Utah National Guard helped with the signing. Mayor Neal Peacock said the covenant is between the community and military families and veterans. It is a chance for a community to be actively involved in supporting those in the armed forces in active duty. The community of Castle Dale will waive utility fees for active duty military members. The community will do whatever is needed to help military families. The booth for signing the Castle Dale covenant was in place the three days of the fair where many community members signed it.
Local scouts presented a flag ceremony at the Castle Dale signing. Ignacio Arrien, is a Castle Dale City employee and was in the Marines for eight years. He served in Japan. He said it was important to him to know that his family was being supported back home. “It’s hard to go to war and prepare for what lies in front of you there when you are worried about what’s going on at home,” said Arrien. He expressed his appreciation to Castle Dale for becoming part of the Community Covenant program. “I am really proud of Castle Dale for doing this,” said Arrien.
Sgt. Palmer thanked Castle Dale for putting the event together. He said the Community Covenant is all about partnerships between the military and the community. Deployments affect communities and families. “It’s valuable to us to know that our families are taken care of when we deploy,” said Sgt. Palmer.
He then read Castle Dale’s covenant to build and support military families. They recognize the sacrifices of these families. Castle Dale City thanks all of the servicemen and women now and forever. Castle Dale commits to love and support service members’ families.
Those present signed the covenant including Castle Dale mayor and city council members. There are three copies of the covenant that need to be signed and one will hang in Castle Dale city hall and one in the armory in Price and the other at the Utah National Guard headquarters in Draper.
Mayor Peacock thanked everyone for coming and for their support of the military.
