Lunch and Learn spotlights Castleview Hospital

The Emery County Business Chamber held their September Lunch and Learn in Green River. Mark Holyoak, the administrator from Castleview Hospital was the featured speaker along with Royd Hatt from Hatt’s Ranch as the local business spotlight.
Holyoak said he is originally from Cedar City and he has spent time in the big cities and he’s glad to be in a more rural setting like Castle Country. He introduced members of the Castleview staff and board members present.
Holyoak said the mission of Castleview is to make the communities they serve healthier. Carbon and Emery counties only have one hospital to choose from which is Castleview, but he wants community members to know they have a choice.
Holyoak wants people to choose to come to Castleview. He wants employees that want to come to work and physicians who want to practice here. “We offer high quality care. When we strengthen our hospital, we strengthen our community. Health care is the most highly regulated industry. It’s more highly regulated than nuclear power. That puts a lot of pressure on the health care industry. We will ride the waves of health care reform. We want to be your health care provider into the future and bring you the quality you need. We are the only hospital in two counties, but we know you still have choice. We want you to come to Castleview. Shop local. We now have an inhouse MRI which was a $2.1 million investment. We have an ultrasound room. We have a laparoscopic tower for general surgery, a remodeled nurses station, new endoscopy tower for colonoscopies; a new 64 slice CT scanner. We have the best equipment possible.
“We have 341 employees. Our motto is to hire local and hire the right person and train them. We have spent $140,000 in trainings for our current staff. We are accredited. We give quality and compassionate care. We rate high in patient satisfaction for inpatient, outpatient and emergency services. For emergency services we have a 98 percent satisfaction rating. We give personalized care. Give us a try. We want input, both good and bad,” said Holyoak.
He spotlighted the new doctors at Castleview including Dr. Matt Brady in family medicine/OB; Dr. Richard Yarger in general surgery, Dr. Erik Lyman, ENT and allergies; Dr. Richard Donaldson-Emery Medical Center; Dr. Bradshaw in OB/GYN. Dr. Russell Beecher- physical medicine and rehab/pain clinic; Dr. Kelly Jensen-orthopedic surgery, Dr. Jon Pressett-general surgery.
“These doctors are making a long term commitment to our hospital. The worst thing for a community is the turnover of physicians. These doctors are putting down roots and many have a local connection to the area. We now have three general surgeons at the hospital to provide a choice,” said Holyoak.
Other new procedures will be bariatric weight loss surgery coming in 2013; spine surgery with Dr. Jensen will start in 2013. Max Morgan is retiring and Nick Hanson family medicine will take over his practice. In August of 2013, Paul Thayn in pediatrics will be here. Dr. Yarger will perform minimally invasive surgery for varicose veins.
“An expansion and renovation will take place in the emergency room and the intensive care unit will be expanded. The obstetrics department will be renovated to look more like a hotel. It will be finished in January and will make the facility more appealing,” said Holyoak.
Castleview Hospital contributes to the local tax base and last year paid more than $1.5 million in property and sales taxes which helped to support the city, county and state.
The next Lunch and Learn will be Nov. 14 at noon at the Museum of the San Rafael and will kick off the Shop at Home for Christmas program.
