The Green River Community Center announces their first ever Halloween Event, Spooktacular, was a great success. Organizers said, “There were hayrides that featured a drum concert performed by Aidan Koch, dressed as a bandit, and Shawn Creeden, dressed as a ghost. Very eerie. First stop on the ride was at the Pumpkin Patch where passengers picked their own pumpkin.
“The final stop was at the fire pit situated right on the Green River. It was a nifty little setting with great large benches surrounding the fire. Hot dogs and ‘smores were roasting while other goodies, like Trevor Mecham’s famous cinnamon rolls were enjoyed by all. There were 100 people in attendance, and all involved are delighted by the great turn-out,” said organizers.
Other activities included face painting, story telling by Jolene Dalton from the Green River library, a costume contest, and a mummy-wrapping competition which was a huge hit. All the children were paired up and given a roll of toilet paper. Whoever wrapped their partner first won. It all began to wind down as the sun was setting, and the last load of passengers boarded the wagon. The children left with a belly full of treats and a little souvenir ghost ornament. The community center would like to thank Scott Banasky, who generously allowed the use of his beautiful farm land for this event.
The community center is anxiously awaiting and planning next year’s event.
