On Nov. 13, at approximately 1:15 p.m. an accident occurred on SR-10 at mile marker 29. A car traveling northbound with one male occupant crossed the center line around the curve at that spot in the road. The car headed southbound containing a male driver and his son saw the car coming for them and went off the road to avoid a collision. The northbound vehicle sideswiped the southbound vehicle. The northbound vehicle continued traveling and went off the road through a ditch and through a fence and into a field.
EMTs arrived on the scene and removed the man from his vehicle where he was transported to Castleview Hospital. He was complaining of back pain and he had abrasions on his face. The man and his son were examined and released at the scene.
Emery County Sheriff Greg Funk said the quick action of the driver in the southbound vehicle to avoid a head-on collision saved his life and the life of his son. The reason the driver was in the other lane is not known at this time and the accident is under investigation. It was reported the driver of the northbound vehicle is a diabetic and possibly a medical condition contributed to the accident. The driver was disoriented at the accident scene and didn’t know what happened.
