GREEN RIVER – Odell Bert Anderson, age 84, left his earthly family on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 and returned to his Father in Heaven after a wonderful life. Odell was born April 12, 1928 in Ruth, Nev. to Orson Lamar Anderson and Elda Mae Edwards. He married his sweetheart, Olive Pursy Seely on May 21, 1956 in the Manti LDS Temple, Manti, Utah.
Odell spent his childhood moving with his family from one construction jobsite to another. The majority of his youth was spent in Carbon County, where he received his education and began his career in the construction business at a very young age.
Odell was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various positions including serving as a high councilman and executive secretary in the Moab Stake. Odell and Olive also enjoyed their calling as ordinance workers for the Monticello Temple. Odell served our country as a Marine in the Korean War and spent his life serving his family. He was a partner in a successful contracting business G&O Construction and built thousands of miles of roads from Parley’s Canyon to the Virgin River Gorge, which was truly a joy in his life. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling with his dear wife, children and grandchildren.
Odell is survived by his loving wife, Olive, children Misti (Troy Jr.) Sweeten of Green River, Cory (Millie) Anderson of Loa. Grandchildren, Troy Sweeten III, Brighton (Alex) Green, Gavin (Stephanie) Anderson, Colin Anderson and Brenna Anderson. Siblings, Orson L. Anderson, Neil (Linda) Anderson, Jeanette (Gerald) Ellefsen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orson Bryner Anderson and Elda Mae Edwards, brothers Leland Edward Anderson (Deloris, deceased), and Ronald Joseph Anderson.
