HUNTINGTON – Reed B. Halliday, age 72, passed away Feb. 18, 2013 at his home. Reed was born April 17, 1940 to Willard Reed and Ida Chloe Cobbley Halliday in American Fork, Utah. He married Cleone Tree on Feb. 28, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After Cleone passed away on Oct. 15, 1988, Reed married Josie Irene Brinkman on Nov. 5, 1993 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Reed graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1958. He worked for Savage Industries for over 30 years. He was a hard worker, and loved to garden, cook, and spend time in the outdoors. Reed was an avid square dancer. In fact, he met his wife Irene while square dancing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and teaching them various things. He even helped his grandsons with their pinewood derby cars. Reed was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including second counselor in the Bishopric and working with the youth. For the past eight years, Reed and Irene have been “snowbirds” in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Reed is survived by his wife, Irene; children: Bernell (Teresa) Halliday of Huntington, Utah, Annene (Dave) Kraus of Placerville, Calif; Darrin (Buffy) Halliday of Willard, Utah, and LeeAnn (Curtis) Reid of Provo, Utah; step-children: Joseph (Cindy) Owen of Roy, Utah, Earlene (Keven) Mason of Huntington, Utah, Peggy Owen of Yuma, Ariz; Christine (Nick) Manning of Orangeville, Utah, Gary Owen of Vancouver, Wash; Jerry (Kim) Owen of St. George, Utah, and Michael (Karina) Owen of Los Angeles, Calif; siblings: Lynn (Kathy) Halliday of American Fork, Utah, Elaine (Daryl) Horne of American Fork, Utah, and LaRae Wells of Wellington, Utah; 33 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleone; parents; grandparents; brother-in-law, Larry Wells; step-son, Warren Owen; step-granddaughter, Brianne Mason Simmons; and step-great-granddaughter, Aubrey Rose Owen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Stake Center (240 North Main). There will be a viewing Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street, Castle Dale) and Saturday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
