Partial mine collapse leaves one injured, one trapped

A partial collapse at the Rhino Mine in Huntington Canyon this afternoon has reportedly trapped one miner and injured another. The Emery County Sheriff’s Office has reported that Emery County dispatch received a call from the mine at 3:12 pm to report the incident. One of the two miners involved in the partial collapse has been sent to Castleview Hospital in Carbon County. The other miner is, according to the latest report, still trapped in the mine.
The Emery County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the names of the affected miners, their current physical condition, or the extent of their injuries.

UPDATE:
According to a press release issued by the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, the body of the second coal miner has been recovered by the mine’s own rescue team. The name of the deceased miner is currently being withheld pending notification of the family.
The press release also indicated that the investigation of the mine cave-in will be conducted by MSHA.
