ORANGEVILLE-John “Kenneth” Cox, age 92, returned home to his Heavenly Father March 28, 2013 while surrounded by his family. He was born in Orangeville, Utah, to John Bernard and Elizabeth Clintey Cox on Feb. 26, 1921. He was the fourth of six children. He was born, raised and lived in Orangeville his entire life. He served our country in WWII and came home where he married his sweetheart Geneal Larsen of Castle Dale, Utah. They were the parents of three children, Stephen (Camme) Cox, Provo; Cheri (Joseph) Starr, Salt Lake; GeriLyn (Brad) Reed, Orangeville. They have 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Kenneth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as Bishop of the Orangeville First Ward, and Branch President of the Emery County Correctional Facility. He was diligent in his service of home teaching, as well as various other church callings.
He worked for the Utah Department of Transportation, from which he retired. He enjoyed fishing during all seasons. He took great pride in his garden and yard. He loved to be outside and most of all enjoyed being with his family. He was a very generous, kind, loving man.
Kenneth is survived by his sisters; Donna Sitterud (Castle Dale, Utah), Elizabeth (Wells) Wakefield (Orem, Utah) and sister in-law Joyce Cox (Richfield, Utah). He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geneal, brothers Mostyn and Blaine, and sister Margaret.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. Orangeville FirstWard. Visitation, Wednesday, April 3, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Orangeville 1st Ward, and one hour prior to funeral service. Interment will follow in the Orangeville City Cemetery, under the trusted care of the Heritage Funeral Home.
