Upcoming play, Take me to the Movies

On April 25, 26, and 27 the Emery High Theatre Department and the Emery County Community Theatre will present a joint musical production entitled “Take Me To The Movies.” This production is a musical revue of great movie songs. The revue consists of several scenes directed and choreographed by Neal Peacock, Emery High students and Community Theatre members and put to some of the great songs of the movies. Featured are some of the great theatre music such as Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, Hallelujah from Shrek, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Man of Constant Sorrow from Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou, and many, many others. Some of the scenes are serious, some are humorous, and some are filled with dancing and action and there may also be a few surprises.
Twenty-five students are involved from the High School and around 25 people from Community Theatre. This makes it a very large and very fun show. Emery High Students involved include Mariah Behling, Aspen Bloomer, Adam Brinkworth, Jr., Kennidee Byington, Madelyn Carter, Colton Clement, Zachary Clifford, Spencer Fauver, Bryson Hales, McKade Hansen, Jessie Jennings, Hailey Johnson, Nicole McCandless, Randi Mecham, Whitney Murdoch, Kourtnee Nelson, Kenlyn Nielson, Kaden Oakeson, Sarah Roberts, Kaitlyn Saling, Jaicelyn Shakespaere, Shelby Smith, Marissa Urie, Taylor Weihing, and Savannah Woolsey.
Take Me To The Movies is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 25, 26, 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Emery High Auditorium. The cost is $4 for adults and $3 for students and children. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Emery High Theatre students or Community Theatre members or they can be purchased at the door on the night of the performance.
The over-all director is Neal Peacock with direction from Community Theatre members, Tanie Worthen, Trish Erickson, and Jacob Barnett. Marilee Cox is the musical director/coordinator and choreography help has been provided by Nadene Hinkins, McKette Allred, Jessie Jennings and Madelyn Carter. This production will be Neal Peacock’s 162nd play that he has directed or produced during the last 30 years. This will be the last production by the Emery High Theatre Department this year. Emery High started the year with the musical, “Lucky Stiff” in November and then performed the Little Theatre play “Every Christmas Story Ever Told” in December. In January the Theatre Department presented “Big Bad: The Musical.” In March Emery presented the 1-Act play “Tom Jones.” And to finish out the year “Take Me To The Movies.”
At this time, the Emery High students are preparing to attend the State Drama Competition in Parowan.
