Emery High School hosted nine other track teams last week to the Darrell Gardner Invitational track meet. The Spartans dominated their lone home meet of the season as both the boys’ team and the girls’ team easily won the respective divisions. The boys scored 233 points to second place Altamont with 107 and the girls scored 162.5 points to Wayne High School’s 118 points. The following is a complete list of all the athletes that scored points for Emery High in the meet. In the boy’s 100 meters, Jared Shakespeare was second, Scott Jackson was third and Nick Arizmendi was fifth. In the girl’s 100 meters, Baylor Griffin was first in a time of 13.48.
In the boy’s 200 meters, Shakespeare was second, Arizmendi was third, Tyler Pulli was fourth, Matt Mecham was fifth and Cameron Allred was seventh. In the girl’s 200 meters, Hailee Rogers was first in a time of 27.10 with Griffin second and Cassidy Labrum seventh. In the boy’s 400 meters, Jackson was first in a time of 54.79, David Dyer was third and Charlie Turner was fourth. In the girl’s 400 meters, Rogers was first in a time of 1:01.13 with Camry Johnson was third.
In the boy’s 800 meters, Pulli was third, Leedan Johnson was fifth, Aaron Brower was sixth and Davis Thompson was seventh. In the girl’s 800 meters, Sarah Collard was seventh and Valerie Chynoweth was eighth.
In the boy’s 1600 meters, David Bird was fifth, Alex Stilson was sixth and Zac Clifford was seventh. In the girl’s 1600 meters, Ashley Guymon was second with Kassidee Oakeson sixth.
In the boy’s 3200 meters, Johnson was third and Brower was fourth while Oakeson was second for the girl’s.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Paytn Jeffs was third. In the 110 meter hurdles, Brendon Jorgensen was first with a time of 16.09 with Matt Mecham third. In the boy’s 300 meter hurdles, Jorgensen was first with a time of 41.75, Jax Gardner was second, Justan Potter was third and Mecham was fourth. In the girl’s 300 meter hurdles, Kelsie Cox was second.
In the boys’ long jump, Jorgensen took first with a jump of 19’3″ and Dawson Jensen took second. In the girl’s long jump, Paytn Jeffs took first with a jump of 15’4″ with Blayr Jeffs taking second.
In the boy’s high jump, Justan Potter took second with Jensen taking third. In the girl’s high jump, Paytn Jeffs took second with Jessica Guymon third and Camry Johnson sixth.
In the boy’s javelin, Curtis Mason was first with a throw of 154’4″ with Travis Stout fifth. In the girl’s javelin, Jessica Guymon was first with a throw of 89’1″.
In the girl’s shot put, Bailey Rasmussen was fourth and Hanna Dyer was seventh. In the boy’s discus, Cle Richards was third, Remi Hoffman was fifth and Mason was sixth. In the girl’s discus, Dyer was fourth, Kira Oelmann was fifth and Laryssa Guymon was eighth. Emery High won both 4 x 100 relays, both 4 x 400 relays and the boys sprint medley relay.
In other Emery High track action, Ashlynn Allred along with Paytn and Blayr Jeffs, traveled to the Dixie High Invitational in St George over the weekend. Allred won the 100 meter race with a time of 12.41 after qualifying with a time of 12.87 in the eighth heat. Her time in the finals was the third fastest time by any girl in the state this season. Allred also qualified in the 200 meter race with the fastest time but did not participate in the finals due to being ill. The Jeffs sisters participated in the long jump with Paytn taking sixth with a jump of 15’4.5″
