PRICE- LaVon “Pete” Oviatt, age 90, passed away on June 18, 2013 in Price, Utah. Pete was born on May 8, 1923 to Wilford F. and Ella A. Minchey Oviatt in Wattis, Utah. He married LaWella King on May 24, 1947 in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple.
Pete served his country in the US Army as a medic during WWII. He worked as the Water Master in North Emery for many years, and later as a truck driver for Emery County Roads, he enjoyed being a farmer the best. Pete and his wife LaWella served an LDS mission at the Chicago LDS Temple. His favorite place to be was with his family at his cabin in Accord Lake. He was an artist and musician, he enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar. Pete loved being outdoors in nature, watching birds or gardening. He was also a very talented carpenter.
Pete is survived by his wife LaWella, children: Conna (Craig) Larsen, Richard Scott Oviatt both of Price, Utah, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Marie Oviatt of Cleveland, Utah.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Melyni Ann Oviatt, parents, Wilford Franklin and Ella Ann Minchey Oviatt, sisters: Venice Cramer, Rissa Staker, LaRee Vogrenic, brothers: Cleland Oviatt and Frank Oviatt.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, 680 East 100 South. A viewing was held at 10 a.m. prior to the service Saturday at the mortuary. Interment in the Cleveland Town Cemetery. Services in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may share memories of Pete at www.fausettmortuary.com.
