PRICE-Hampton McArthur age 81, passed away on July 2, 2013 in Price, Utah. Hampton was born on July 17, 1931 to Perry Lennis and Anna Rhea Wakefield McArthur in Price, Utah. He married Jean Nielson on May 7, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple; she passed away Feb. 28, 2002, married Carol Nelson Bell on August 30, 2002 in Manti, Utah.
As a youth Hampton loved working in Huntington during the summers with his grandparents. He felt it was a privilege and an honor to serve his country, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was also very involved in the community working with the Lions Club, and other service organizations. He held many civic positions: Price City Recorder, President of Utah Recorders League, and was a member of the managing board of IPP. He retired as the Director of Finance for Price City. He was an office manager for Koret of California. He was a tireless worker and loved to build things such as additions to his home, gazebos, and outdoor furniture. He also grew a beautiful garden, winning multiple yard of the month awards. He loved serving in the church especially as a Seventy and in the bishopric. He was a dedicated friend and father. He loved two amazing women, first his childhood sweetheart Jean and then after her death he married Carol who not only blessed his life with her love but also blessed the lives of all Hampton’s family.
Hampton is survived by his wife Carol, children: Teresa (Gary) Deaton of St. George, Utah, Diane (Cal) Van Dyke of Orem, Utah, Mark (Jody) McArthur of Taylorsville, Utah, stepchildren: Connie (Jim) Johnson of Price, Utah, Barbara (Clyde) Sherman of Rocks Spring, Wyo., Steven (Susan) Bell of Rocks Spring, Wyo., Karen (Jay) Christensen of St. George, Utah, 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, brothers: Gregg (Marlene) McArthur of Riverton, Utah, Kent (Louise) McArthur of Ogden, Utah, sisters: Mary (Glenn) Kukahiko of Orem, Utah, and Annette (Wayne) Rowley of Maine, sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Joe) Wilcock of Salt Lake City, Utah, Eda Nielson of Price, Utah, brothers-in-law: Jim (Patti) Nielson, Robert (Mary) Nielson both of Sun City, Ariz.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, and brothers: Rex McArthur and Nedd McArthur.
His family would like to thank Parkdale Care Center for their loving care of Hampton.
Funeral services were held on Saturday July 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Price LDS 11th Ward Chapel (300 West 500 South.) Viewing held on Friday July 5, 2013 from 6-7 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price (680 East 100 South) and also on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment in the Huntington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Hamp at www.fausettmortuary.com.
