Have you noticed a new face among the doctors at Emery Medical Center? It is probably Kelly D. Jensen D.O. Dr. Jensen is excited to be serving the residents of the Castle Valley and for the opportunity to come to Castle Dale twice monthly and see patients there for orthopedic needs.
Kelly D. Jensen was born in Driggs, Idaho and was raised in Preston, Idaho. His career as an orthopedic surgeon began with undergraduate schooling at Dixie College, then leading to Utah Valley University for graduate work. Finally, Dr. Jensen obtained his orthopedic schooling at Nova Southeastern University COM in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He did his orthopedic residency at Penn State Hersey Medical Center in Hershey, Penn. Altogether, Dr. Jensen spent 13 years in schooling and training to become an orthopedic surgeon.
Dr. Jensen said,” I became a physician because I worked for an orthopedic surgeon and I really became interested in the work. It is really a challenge, but it is so rewarding to be able to decrease pain and reconstruct and improve the level of function for my patients. I really enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I have found the Castle Valley to have a large diversity of people. I am impressed with how hard working and genuine the people are here.”
“It is my goal to help people improve their quality of life. It is important to stay active at any age and to maintain healthy practices to prevent and improve bone health. Most people do not realize it, but after age 35, we begin to lose about 5 percent of our bone mass each year. If you are not active, you lose it even faster. To help prevent this erosion, it’s important to take your supplements, especially vitamin D and calcium, and maintain a healthy lifestyle with plenty of exercise. As we age, its best to use lower impact exercises including biking, swimming and hiking.”
Dr. Jensen treats all kinds of aches, pains, and sports injuries. He treats muscles, joints, traumatic injury and sports injuries. He treats arthritis and any degenerative disease of the bones. He performs surgeries and anything related to the lower back, as well as a full range of joint replacement for hips, knees and shoulders. Dr. Jensen also addresses issues with tingling and numbness, as this can be related to back problems. If you are experiencing pain or dysfunction in any way with aches, pains, muscles, joints and back numbness and tingling, then chances are, the proper treatment may be able to help.
Dr. Jensen, his wife, Taralie, and their four children, came straight to Castleview Hospital from Dr. Jensen’s residency. “Our family loves it here in this area”, says Dr. Jensen. “Our four children have met some great friends. They are enjoying school and everyone has adjusted very well,” said Dr. Jensen.
Taralie’s family lived in Montana previously, but they are now living in St. George. Dr. Jensen’s family is still in Preston, Idaho, so Carbon County is a good place in the middle for them. They really enjoy sports and outdoor activities, like camping, ATV riding, and mountain biking.
Taralie is a school teacher, but at this time she has devoted her time to being a stay at home mom for their four children ages 16, 14, 10 and 6.
Dr. Jensen loves the small community atmosphere here and is ready to get to work and help the residents of the Castle Valley improve their quality of life.
Dr. Jensen sees patients on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The hours are from 8 a.m. to noon.Call his Price office at 637-2663 to schedule an appointment.
