“BEST USE OF FAIR THEME” contest. Entries will be accepted on Tuesday July 30 from 10:00-7:00. A cash prize and rosette will be awarded.
EMERY COUNTY FAIR
2013 Basic Exhibit Guidelines PHOTOGRAPHY:
1. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. Both Professional and Amateur photographers may exhibit; they can only submit entries in one class.
3. Only prints that have not been previously entered at the Emery County Fair will be accepted. 4. An individual may enter a maximum of 5 prints. 5. The size for each print for this year is 8″ x 10″ or 8″ x 12″. Advanced Amateur 11″ x 14″ or 10″ x 15″. 6. All entries must be affixed to a mount board of foam core approximately 1/ 8″ to ¼”. (No cardboard, poster board, etc. permitted). 7. No front mats or frames will be accepted in any classification. 8. Prints may be surface coated with a protective photographic lacquer or spray gloss. 9. Prints that were taken with a digital camera may be entered and will compete equally in all classifications if the images have not been computer manipulated. The exception will be for entries entered in the special effects/abstract classification. 10. No names or identifying marks may appear on the front of prints or mount boards until after judging has been completed. 11. Class designation for children, adults, advanced amateur and senior citizens. 12. The fair personnel will use care to secure the pictures and safeguard their safety. However, no responsibility can be assumed for any lost, stolen, or damaged photos. 13. All decisions made by the judges will be final. Exhibits will be accepted on Tuesday, July 31,between 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Because of the family oriented nature of Emery County Fair Exhibits, objectionable or inappropriate items will not be displayed.
FINE ARTS:
1. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. Exhibits must be original work. NOT A COPY. 3. Work previously entered cannot be exhibited again. 4. All pictures must be securely framed and equipped with hangers. 5. All decisions made by the judges will be final.
CREATIVE ARTS:
1. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. Exhibits made from prefabricated kits are discouraged-UNLESS the exhibit has been significantly modified to magnify the exhibitor’s talent. 3. Articles entered must be the COMPLETE work of the exhibitor. 4. Items previously exhibited will not be accepted. 5. All decisions made by the judges will be final.
HOME ARTS:
Home Arts changes: 1. A limit of 2 quilts per county resident will be accepted 2. NO PROFESSIONAL QUILTING WILL BE JUDGED 3. Quilt sleeve must be attached for display purposes 1. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. All articles entered must be the exhibitors own work. 3. Any article previously entered will not be accepted. 4. All exhibits must be CLEAN, soiled entries will NOT be accepted 5. All decisions made by the judges will be final. FLORICULTURE(Flower Arranging):
All entries for this category must be fresh 1. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. Work must be exclusively that of the exhibitor. 3. Exhibitor need not to have grown the plants in the arrangement. 4. All decisions made by the judges will be final. HORTICULTURE:(Flowers Grown)
All entries for this category must be fresh 1. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. All exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor in Emery County. 3. Exhibitors must provide their own container. 4. All decisions made by the judges will be final.
AGRICULTURE/HORTICULTURE:
All entries for this category must be fresh. All entries are limited to residents of Emery County and all products must have been grown in Emery County. 2. All entries must be placed on a disposable plate or tray (paper or styrofoam). 3. All fruit and vegetable entries must contain five specimens. 4. The exhibit must be clean and all 5 specimens need to be of uniform shape and size. 5. Root crops need to be firm, cleaned and free from soil. Roots need to be cut off and tops need to be trimmed to 1 inch. 6. Honey – 1 pint 7. Berries – 1 full cup displayed on a plate. 8. Grapes – 1 plate full. 9. Nuts – 1 plate full. 10. All decisions made by the judges will be final.
Exhibits will be accepted on Tuesday July 30 from 10 a.m.:-7: p.m. and all fresh exhibits will be accepted on Wednesday July 31 from 8-10 a.m. at the Emery County Fair Exhibit and Expo Center located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale.
Judging will take place at 10:30 a.m. No late exhibits will be accepted. Exhibit Hall will be open to the general public Aug. 1-2 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Aug. 3 from 12 noon-6 p.m.

All exhibit entries must be picked up on Monday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. – 12 noon. If for any reason you cannot be there to pick up your entries, please make other arrangements. It is fair time again. This years fair theme is “Blue Jeans and Country Dreams.” The following are the chairman for the exhibits this year. Home Arts: Please contact them for any questions you may have in regards to exhibits. There will also be a new contest this year. It will be the “Best use of theme” contest. This contest will awarded a rosette and a cash prize. For more information please contact Cassie Thatcher 653-2199. 4-H Information for County Fair Exhibits Bring your fair projects to the Emery County Fair. 4-H exhibits will be accepted TUESDAY, July 30 from 10 am to 7 pm. Exhibits consisting of fresh items such as garden produce, flowers, cakes, pies, breads etc. should be brought in WEDNESDAY, July 31 between 8 and 10 am. No late exhibits will be accepted. Make sure you are enrolled in your 4-H exhibit project area. Call the Extension office at 381-2381 to check your enrollment or if you have questions. No non-4-H school projects will be accepted. (Exhibit acceptance times also apply to open class exhibitors.)
