The 2013 Emery High boys golf season got underway this past week when the Spartans traveled to Spanish Fork to play the Spanish Oaks golf course at the mouth of the canyon in the first region golf meet of the season.
Emery, led by senior golfer McKlane Allred, finished second in the region meet behind the Grand High team. Emery finished ahead of South Sevier, North Sevier and San Juan.
Allred, who has been Emery’s leading golfer the past three seasons, appears to be the ace of the team again this season. Allred shot an 84 enroute to finishing second individually.
Junior Jordan Fuller finished second for Emery followed by Zane Cologie, also a junior. Teigen Jewkes finished fourth for the Emery team. Mark Debry and Race Nielson each golfed for Emery but their scores were not counted in the team total.
Emery plays this Tuesday at Palisades golf course in Sanpete County and will host their lone golf meet of the season on Sept. 17.
