DWR Invites the Public to Kids’ Fishing Days. At the events, DWR will provide tackle and teach kids how to fish.
The Division of Wildlife Resources will stock two water bodies with rainbow trout for Kids’ Fishing Days in September.
The events will be held at the Huntington Game Farm Pond in Huntington and at Green River State Park in Green River.
The events are free. Children under 12 years old don’t need a license to fish.
Those 12 years of age or older need to make sure they bring their license with them.
To ensure good fishing for the 8 to 10 inch rainbows, volunteers will be available to provide individual instruction.
If you don’t have your own fishing equipment, the DWR will provide rods, reels and bait.
Kids under 14 years old will also be eligible for prizes. For all participants, the limit is two fish.
At Green River State Park, the event will be held Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.
For more information about the Green River fishing day, call Walt Maldonado, DWR regional volunteer coordinator, at 435-820-8147.
