"Jim Pierce and Shawna Horrocks are introduced at the senior citizen luncheon."

By Phil Fauver

Emery County Annual Senior Lamb Fry luncheon was held at Huntington City Park. The lunch was served by the County Commissioners and other elected officials. Several senior citizens brought salads and deserts to be served at the luncheon.
The Country Rovers a band from Huntington provided the entertainment by playing Country Western music throughout the lunch.
Jim Pierce the Director of the Huntington Senior Citizen Center welcomed the group and asked JR Nelson to offer a prayer.
Jim Pierce then introduced Shawna Horrocks as the new Director of Emery County Aging and Nutrition. Shawna is taking Maughn’s Guymon’s place in the organization.
Shawna Horrocks has lived in Cleveland with her husband Jeff for 21 years. Shawna is a graduate of Emery High School; Shawna studied nursing at the College of Eastern Utah. She has been the RN case manager for the Aging Program for the South Eastern Association of Local Governments and is the Director of Emery County Aging & Nutrition Program under the Southeastern Association of Local Governments. Shawna is still studying to improve her skills and is working toward her Masters Degree in Nursing.
Shawna thanked everyone for coming out to the Annual Senior Citizens Lamb Fry.
Maughn Guymon the former Director of Emery County Aging and Nutrition for many years was in attendance with his wife. Maughn retired recently and Shawna Horrocks has been appointed to be the Director of the Emery County Aging and Nutrition Program under the direction of the Southeastern Association of Local Governments.
The Senior Citizen lunch of fried lamb, chicken, watermelon, salads, deserts and cantaloupe catered by Kent and Julie Wilson of BK’s in Huntington was excellent.
