Cheri Starr, nee Cox, of Salt Lake City died on Oct. 24, 2013 after a months- long illness. She was 65. The second of three children, Cheri was born on April 5, 1948 to John Kenneth and Geneal Larsen Cox of Orangeville, Utah where she grew up. She married Joseph W. Starr of Hiawatha in 1970. They had two daughters. The family moved to Southern California from Salt Lake City in 1982 and remained there until 2009, when Cheri and Joseph returned to Utah.
Cheri worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Salt Lake for a number of years, and then switched to the full-time job of raising her children. She loved to read, enjoyed traveling, and beachcombing. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in several positions in the relief society and taught nursery for several years. She enjoyed crafting, including stained glass and ceramics. Visiting her children, grandson, nieces and nephews was her favorite activity.
A proud mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her husband, Joe, daughters Krysta Starr and Allison (Marty) Fisher, grandson Joshua, brother Stephen (Camme) Cox and sister GeriLyn (Brad) Reed.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at 12:30 p.m., at the Orangeville City Cemetery under the trusted care of the Heritage Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories on the funeral home website at heritagefuneralhomeutah.com.
