HUNTINGTON-Isabelle “Izzy” Oveson, age 85, passed away Dec. 16, 2013 to join her husband Valdean on an extended camping trip. She is welcomed there by her daughter Annette, first husband Jack M. Nielson, her parents, brother’s, and sister. As she warms her feet by a blazing campfire, they will all tell tales and anxiously wait for one of Izzy’s signature meals simmering in a dutch oven nearby. She leaves behind to tend THIS camp, her 5 children; Jackie Bunnell, Madelene (Bob) Wilson, Kurt, Kelly (Corrinne) and Kris (Sharon); 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, many, many friends and no enemies. Isabelle touched many lives in her 85 years, and once touched it became an embrace. She was a master at understanding the complexities of friendship and love. She became personally invested in everyone she knew, we all received support and guidance without judgement. She had an enormous capacity for tolerance, integrity and wit. She allowed no bigotry or cruelty in her presence. Though she will be missed, she left us all with strengths we didn’t know we had. In her words “get off your pity pot, get to work, and get it done!
It was her request to not have a funeral or be buried in cold weather, so in honoring these wishes, the family will intern her ashes in the spring. In lieu of flowers, she requested donations to the American Cancer Society.
Upon her request, a Celebration of Life was held Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013. Family received guests between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, Utah. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Isabelle at www.fausettmortuary.com.
