FERRON- Herb E. Thomas, age 61 passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at his home after a valiant battle with cancer. Herb was born June 23, 1952 in Price, Utah to Elwood “Woody” and Shirlene Bawden Thomas. He married Jean Faulconer on March 21, 1980 in Orem, Utah.
Herb was a member of the San Rafael Swell Auto Association, and the Gents Car Club, he was very passionate about his 73 Dodge Shortbed. Herb traveled many miles to enter his truck in numerous car shows. He worked as an Operator at the Hunter Power Plant for more than 30 years, before retiring due to health reasons. His greatest joy was his family. Especially spending time with his grandchildren, be it watching a Jazz game or attending their different activities. Being with his grandchildren brought the biggest smile to his face. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Gregory Allen Thomas and Zachery Benjamin Thomas.
Herb is survived by his wife Jean of Ferron. Daughter, Courtnee (Chris) Justice and their children: Tai, Derek, Seth, Bethany and Luke all of Huntington. Daughter, Melanie (Beau) Stoker and their children: Laila, Cain and Charly all of South Jordan. Sister, Jann (Pete) Parduhn of Bullhead City, Ariz. Niece, Shauna McKnight of Lake Havasu, Ariz.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, 720 N. Center. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, evening, Jan. 1, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, and on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Friends and family may sign the guestbook and share memories of Herb at www.fausettmortuary.com.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Coleman and Sean Strope and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Center and Dr. Lowell Morris and Sherry King for their loving care and support.
