Job Shadow participants from San Rafael Junior High included Austin Albrecht, Mckay Meccarrillo, and Autumn Olsen.
They spent the day learning the know before you go avalanche program which is how to identify and to avoid unsafe conditions in avalanche prone areas.
They learned how to use beacons, probes, and how to search for someone buried in snow.
They ended the day learning about how different types of snow cause it to become unstable and to eventually trigger.
They were taught by Utah avalanche center’s Bruce Temperer, Craig Gordon, and Eric Trenbeath.
