HUNTINGTON – Ralph J. Nielson, “Grandpa Hunny”, age 56, son of Marjorie and the late John C. Nielson, passed away due to a serious illness on April 1, 2014 surrounded by his children.
In Ralph’s younger years he was very athletic. He enjoyed playing church and county basketball. He loved to hunt and loved all the family times on the mountains. He loved taking his grandkids fishing. Ralph was a hard worker. He helped his dad and his brother build Nielson Construction, and he loved his construction grader. He had a great sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to joke around.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he had a firm testimony of the gospel. He was sealed to his family in July 1981 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Ralph is survived by his mother, Marjorie Nielson; children: Nicole (Jeramie) Fielder, Heather (Josh) Fielder, Peter J. Nielson, and Kollette Nielson; 10 grandkids whom he loved dearly; siblings: Boyd (Mary Ellen) Nielson, Connie (Scott) Roundy, Wayne (Teresa) Nielson, and Diane (Kent) Procarione; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Nielson, sister, Carolyn Holdaway, and nephew, James Dell Nielson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center (240 North Main Street). There was a viewing Friday, April 4, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Huntington LDS 1st & 5th Ward building (115 South 400 East) and on Saturday at the Stake Center (240 North Main) from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Ralph at www.fausettmorutary.com.
