Green River: Morris C. “Widge” Quarnberg died at age 73 on April 12, 2014 unexpectedly from a recreational vehicle accident.
He was born on March 2, 1941 in Scipio Utah, to Claude and Hilda Quarnberg. He was sealed to Patricia Frame in the St. George Temple, on June 6, 1964. They shared nearly 50 years of memories, love, family and devotion to each other. He graduated from Brigham Young University and then moved to Green River Utah, to begin his teaching career in industrial arts. After a few years he started his own construction company, Quality Enterprise Construction. He spent 30+ years building homes and businesses but his favorite projects were those for family, friends, and neighbors. He “semi-retired” and spent his time fishing, hunting, camping, 4-wheeling, canning, playing cribbage and making all kinds of things at the shop.
“Widge” loved spending time serving in church callings. He especially enjoyed the young men’s program taking many trips to the Boulder Mountains, one of his favorite places to be. He loved coaching high school basketball, sponsoring little league teams and playing softball as a “Wood-Butcher”.
He is survived by his wife, his four children, Kristin (Scott) Robertson of Green River Utah, KayLyn (Shane) Thacker of Bluffdale Utah, Lory (Jennifer) Quarnberg of Ephraim Utah, and Gary (Celeste) Quarnberg of Fruita Colorado, and 14 grandkids. Surviving siblings are Connie (Mack) Forbush of Taylorsville Utah, Ramona (Richard) Thatcher of Scipio Utah, and Jonney (Laurie) Quarnberg of Beaver Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Green River, Utah at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel, located at 101 N. Clark Street. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening April 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the church in Green River and 9-10:30 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service. Interment will be in the Elgin Cemetery.
