Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on April 12, 2014 of natural causes at age 94. Born on July 7, 1919, in Seattle, Wash. He was the third of five children of Carl Sixtus and Effie Edna Atlanta Sandstrom Johnson. He grew up in Seattle and attended Roosevelt High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corps for 4 years 7 months, serving 2 1/2 years in the European Theater.
Married Colleen Guymon, July 15, 1946 in Seattle, Wash. They were sealed on June 20, 1964 for eternity in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death Dec. 4, 1984. Resident of Huntington, Utah for 21 years where he owned and operated Guymon Mercantile grocery store. In 1968 moved to Lehi, Utah where he was a food service worker at the Utah State Developmental Center. Retired in 1985. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Lehi 2nd Ward for many years.
Survived by one son and two daughters; Donald (Martha) Johnson, Provo; Laurel (Norman) Alger, South Jordan; Janet Hales (Kent) Eddington, Orem; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and sister Maxine Zobrist, Milwaukie, Oregon. Preceded in death by parents, brother Winston, sisters Nita and Garnet.
The family would like to thank the Beehive Homes Assisted Living of Orem, Utah for the tender loving care he was given over the last five years. Also special thanks to Icare Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. till time of service. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery. Online guest book at wingmortuary.com.
