Emery Track hosts Darrell Gardner Invitational

Emery High School hosted its annual Darrell Gardner Invitational last week and 14 Utah high schools traveled to Castle Dale to participate. The track meet was won by Richfield High School, a school that is strong in track tradition and always brings a lot of competitors to every meet.
Richfield led the boys with 194 points to second place San Juan with 107 points. Emery High was third with 55 points. Richfield led the girls with 197 points with Carbon High second with 88 points. The Emery girls were third with 65 points.
For the boys, Manti was fourth with 52 points followed by Gunnison Valley with 51 points, Altamont High with 39 points, Carbon High with 34 points, Green River High with 20 points, Uintah High with 20 points, Monticello with 14 points, Wasatch Academy with 4 points, Piute High with 2 points and Pinnacle with 1 point.
For the girls, Manti was also fourth here with 57 points followed by Gunnison Valley with 34 points, Piute with 31 points, Monticello with 29 points, Altamont with 27 points, Panguitch with 20 points, Green River with 20 points, Uintah High with 12 points and San Juan high with 10 points.
Individual winners for Emery High were Ashlynn Allred in the 100 meters and the 200 meters and Paytn Jeffs in the high jump. Tyrell Shumway of Green River was the Pirates lone winner and that came in the javelin.
Second place finishes for Emery were had by Ryan Cox in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters and Erin Hurst in the girls 3200 meters.
Here are the individuals that placed in the running events for Emery High School girls, Kassidee Oakeson eighth in the 3200 meters, Ashley Guymon sixth and Hannah Seely seventh in the 1600 meters with Camrey Johnson fourth and Allyson Woolsey fifth in the 400 meters.
Paytn Jeffs was third in the long jump and Laryssa Guymon was third in the discus for the only girls to place in field events for the Spartans.
Here are the individuals that placed for the Emery boys in running events.
Alex Stilson was eighth in the 3200 meters, Matt Mecham was seventh and Shem Guymon was eighth in the 110 meter hurdles, Cameron Allred was fifth and Beau Ivie was seventh in the 100 meters, Jaxon Bradley was fifth in the 1600 meters, Logan Cox was sixth in the 400 meters, Jax Gardner was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles, Kayden Parkins was eighth in the 800 meters and Cameron Allred was also fifth in the 200 meters.
In the field events, Justan Potter finished in fifth place in the high jump and Ryan Cox was fifth in the javelin.
For Green River High, Taylor Johnson finished third in the 100 meter hurdles and fourth in the long jump. Corbin Mecham was seventh in the shot put for the Pirates. Joe Serafin was sixth in the 100 meter and Cassidee Moore was fourth in the 1600 meters.
