Castle Dale City is in the planning stage for its annual City celebration to be held June 14.
Besides our usual events like kids games, fire truck rides, Barbecue for a Buck, kids rodeo and fireworks, Castle Dale is going to hold a new event.
Castle Dale City is going to hold an event that has been shown to extremely popular in Denver and we need your help. The event is called “Touch a Truck”. We need your support by having you bring interesting vehicles to display. We are looking for big tractors, mowers, construction equipment, heavy equipment, semi trucks, garbage trucks, limousines, delivery trucks and any vehicles that may be interesting to a child.
The event is simple for you and your vehicle to participate in. All you need to do is wash the vehicle and bring it to 5th East in Castle Dale on June 14 before 9 am. The event will run from 10 am to 2 pm. We will shut down the street and use 2nd south if required.
All you need to do is check the tires, set the brakes, pull the keys and provide someone to help the kids climb up into the vehicles. Ladders might be needed for access to the bed of dump trucks.
I have seen vehicle owners hand out small bottles of water or candy. You can let the kids honk the horns or run the sirens. Owners of garbage trucks sometimes let kids operate the lifts. I saw the Pepsi Cola Company bring a truck and a collection of water soluble paints and they let the kids paint their names on the side of one of their delivery trucks.
All we ask is for you to let us know what vehicles you can bring so we can arrange parking order. Car dealers can bring new vehicles if they wish. We just ask that they keep the sales talk to a minimum. They can hand out business cards.
