“On Our Way” at San Rafael Junior High

San Rafael Junior High held their closing program on May 15. The ninth grade class secretary Ethan Winter welcomed everyone to the program. He said the theme for the closing program was, On our Way.
The students will be moving onto high school and the experiences they had in junior high will shape their future lives.
The ninth grade students were introduced and then performed a dance number for the audience.
The ninth grade straight A students presented talks to the audience.
Nancy Dawes, honor student encouraged students to work hard and make something of themselves. “You don’t have to be perfect, but work hard.” She thanked everyone that has helped her during her junior high years. Dawes told students to be positive, be the best you can be and never give up and to keep trying.
Courtney Lindsey presented a musical number entitled, “Chim Chim Cher-ee.”
Brettlyn Tuttle encouraged the ninth graders to make and achieve goals. She thanked parents, teachers, Wiki-pedia and Google for getting them through their junior high years. “Set your goals and dream big,” said Tuttle. She said there’s not a yard stick big enough to measure the potential inside you. “Work hard every day, we’re on our way,” said Tuttle.
Aubreyona Migliori thanked her family for their support. She encouraged everyone to think positive thoughts because after all they could be in junior high and they could be in junior high giving a talk. She said her dad always tells her, “Life isn’t fair, but it’s not fair to anyone. We are on our way to greatness. Always have a positive attitude and focus on the good.” She said to always try again because quitting isn’t an option. If you’re unhappy, you don’t see the good in anything. Always have a positive attitude. If you have a bad attitude, just remember you could be in junior high.
The ninth grade chorus students sang, “Remember Me,” under the direction of music teacher Heidi Hill.
Allyson Woolsey said their three years at San Rafael have gone quickly. When they started they were nervous about finding their classes, now they are leaving the school behind.
They are grateful for the support of their families and teachers. They have never felt alone at San Rafael Junior High. “Let us make sure no one ever feels left behind. We all need a support system. You can’t make it in the world by yourself. Surround yourself with good friends,” said Woolsey.
Principal Doug Mecham addressed the ninth grade class and parents. He said this class has been a great class to look up to in more ways than one as they are a tall class. He said as they move onto the high school it’s a good time to look at where they’ve been, where they are now and where they’re going. They have taken some tough classes and had success as individuals and won team championships. They have had setbacks and some failures. But, failures are just a reason to try harder. The students have brought honor and fun to San Rafael. “It’s been a wonderful year, thanks,” said Principal Mecham. As the students reflect on leaving San Rafael Junior High there may be times when like Bilbo Baggins of the Hobbit, they will wonder why they ever left San Rafael, just as he wondered why he had ever left his hobbit hole. Principal Mecham told the students they have become better people because of the experiences they have had in junior high. He instructed them to know where they’re going because if they don’t know they are going, like in Alice in Wonderland, it won’t matter which road they take. “Listen to those who care about you, set goals. Everyone will be watching you as you continue to grow and we send you on your way,” said Principal Mecham.
Principal Mecham and Jodi Willson passed out the certificates of completion to the students.
Principal Mecham passed out a number of departmental awards.
