Jennifer Parkins has been working as a teaching assistant in Emery School District for several years. In this time she has made a huge positive influence on many preschool students and students with speech-language impairments. In addition to working full time and raising four children, she has been a student herself. She was awarded a Master’s of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Utah State University on May 2, 2014. She also received the “Outstanding Outreach Speech-Language Pathology Student” award two-years in a row.
This is what USU had to say about her:
Jennifer was given the award of Outstanding Outreach Speech-Language Pathology Student for the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education at Utah State University. Jennifer consistently demonstrated excellent clinical skills and academic achievement. Throughout the two-year program, Jennifer was able to work with clients in our on-campus clinic and students in the Emery County school district. She also completed a 2-month externship at a skilled nursing facility. She is well respected in our department for her academic and clinical achievements.
