The ATV trail was repaired where the ATV went off and plummeted into Eagle Canyon on May 25.
Emery County Sheriff Greg Funk said there was a ledge which ATVs had to navigate to get up the embankment. This ledge has been removed and the trail graded in this area. The Emery County Road Department completed the work. Sheriff Funk said, “I really want to thank Wayne Nielsen and the road department for fixing that trail. They went above and beyond. There’s been some talk of closing that trail but it will not be closed and is now in good repair. The BLM has been cooperative in getting the trail repaired.
“Another hazard we have identified is along the San Rafael river, a tree has fallen into the river and is obstructing passage in the area of the Indian writings. There’s been a group of canoers that ran into it and if you veer right you can get around it. The BLM said they will go into this area with chain saws and remove the tree from the water. We just want any rafters and canoers to be aware of this hazard,” said Sheriff Funk.
