The Bear River Cafe Mexican Grill is now open in Huntington. Tony Perez is the restaurant owner. He said, “Our speciality is sweet pork and shredded beef barbacoa. Right now we have six employees. Our hours are Monday-Saturday. We are closed Sundays. We have a drive-up window. Our hours are 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. The restaurant is at 190 South Main.
“Our phone number is 435-687-0010 and you can call in orders and pick them up. I had a restaurant in Evanston, Wyo. that I started in 2010 and it’s still going up there. I came down to Huntington and was looking for a mining job. I drove by this location and saw the building. It took a year to remodel it and it looks good now. We did the floors, walls and added new decorations. W also have free wi-fi for our customers. We have televisions so customers can watch sports or news while dining.
“We give free refills on drinks and we have beautiful servers and friendly people. We have good healthy food that is mostly steam cooked and not fried we have no added fats to our foods.
“We have pico de gallo and fresh home-made salsa. We make the salsa three or four times a day.
“We have low prices and want to keep them affordable for our customers. We also like to keep waste as low as possible. I don’t like to see wasted food. I feel good if people eat all their dinners and take left overs home.
“We have been open for three weeks now and I’ve been working 16 hours a day. I am also training a helper to cook. It makes me feel happy when people like our food. We want everyone to come and try our food. I will give food samples to get you to try our food. I hope to be able to get involved in the community and sponsor a ball team or something.
“We have a breakfast burrito that we serve all day. We are also adding an American breakfast that is coming soon with pancakes, french toast and ham and eggs. We will also take suggestions for food to add to our menu. We want to please our customers and give them what they want. We have a lunch special every day.
“We have kids meals too. In time, I would like to expand to other locations,” said Perez.
Erica Flores, Tamara Clark and Adilene Lerma are the servers. Lucia Leon and Maria Lerma do the preparation work. Kevin Castro is the cook in training and Kevin Diaz is the manager.
