To Kick Off the Pioneer Week Long Celebration we will start off in a very special way. To authentically celebrate the Pioneers we will hold the second Annual “Family Pioneer Night” at “Oville” (Owen Olsen’s Pioneer Village, located at 305 E. Main, Cleveland.)
The activity will start at 6:30 pm on Monday, July 14 and will include a short history about the newest cabin. Come learn about the pioneers and step back in time with all our friends and neighbors. There will cowboy poetry and a Dutch Oven Contest. So cook up your best Dutch Oven recipe and bring it to be served for dinner/dessert.
Tuesday, July 15th at 6 pm there will be a 10 or 20 mile bike ride and also a sidewalk ride for the kids (parents must accompany their children on this ride), please meet at the Main St. Park. Helmets are required for all riders. There are no registration fees and you can win a gift certificate. This is a great, fun family activity you won’t want to miss. Root beer floats will be served to all bike riders afterwards. Contact Kim Player at 653-2440 for more info.
The Family Barbeque will be on Wednesday, July 16th and will start at 6:30 pm at the Main Street Pavilion. Prices will be low as always. There will be prize drawing for Lagoon and Boondocks tickets. A movie in the park will follow starting at dark. The movie will be family friendly and G rated. We will wait until the newest releases are out to pick the title. Concessions will be for sale during the movie.
The Trap Shoot will be on Thursday, July 17 at 6 pm at Shen Jensen’s home located at 260 N 700 E in Cleveland. Cost for the trap shoot is $10 per person and everyone’s name goes into a drawing for a gift certificate from Jones Ace Hardware. The Zumba marathon starts at 7 pm.
This year the Town is bringing back the Arts &and Craft Show. All Cleveland area residents are welcomed and encouraged to display their art work, no age restrictions. Art work can include: (quilts, needlework, crafts, photography, metal work, sculpting etc.) Art Show viewing times will be Saturday, July 19, from 9 am to 6 pm. Art work will be displayed at the Old Town Hall, 365 S 100 W., Cleveland, Utah We are also encouraging all the kids of Cleveland to be involved in the Art Show. Flyers are available at the Library and all entries will be displayed during the Art Show.
On Friday, July 18th, the bike races for all the kids will start at 5 pm at the pavilion. The Lamb Fry will start at 6 pm and as always, the Lamb Fry is potluck. Someone will be calling soon to assign potluck dishes. If you don’t receive a call just bring whatever you would like.
A few ideas… fruit salads, fresh fruit, any dessert, veggies from your garden, jello salads, pasta salads, just about anything will do. Please note that if you do not bring a potluck item the cost of dinner is $8 per person and $35 per immediate family. The price for dinner with a potluck item is $5 per plate and $25 per immediate family. We need and encourage everyone to bring a potluck dish.
Saturday, July 19 will be the busy day. The Alcohol Awareness “COLOR ME CLEVELAND” 5K run will begin at 7 am.
The event will start and end at the Main Street Pavilion. Cost is $15 per person. Registration starts at 6:30 am.
For more information regarding the run please contact Melissa Jensen at 653-2858. Pre-registration for the Color run is open now through July 8. Breakfast, parades, ping-pong ball drop, an aerial photo, games, races, lunch, horse shoes, and much more will take place as scheduled. The Co-Ed Softball games will start approximately 3 pm. If you are interested in putting together a team, please call the Town Office at 653-2310.
Entertainment at the school yard will start at approximately 7 pm. Music and Dancing by ProSound will begin at 7 pm. Bring your chairs and blankets and get a good spot.
