Clawson’s Harvest Celebration was held Sept. 13, at the Clawson City Park.
Mayor Dean Allen thanked everyone for coming to this celebration and invited all to enjoy the abundant food. He said he appreciated all the work that went into making this event successful by volunteers from the community.
Mayor Allen said Casey Reid and the Youth City Council were responsible for making this Fall Harvest dinner and Chili Cook-Off successful. He announced the Youth City Council, Casey Farnsworth, Casey Reid, Kayla Allen and Joseph Price are in charge of organizing fun activities for the city. This Youth City Council was formed in May of 2014.
Mayor Allen thanked the Youth City Council for accomplishing this wonderful work. They were observed setting up the Snow Kone and Pop Corn machines, the softball game, the tug-o-war contest of strength and several other games for children and adults.
The judges for the Clawson, Chili cook-off were Tate Weber and Brawny Kilpack. With Julie Weber the City Treasurer keeping score. There were five large kettles of chili and several cakes to be tasted and judged.
Reed Black won the Chili Cook Off with his black bean soup. There were some favorable comments about Dean Allen’s very hot Chili pepper soup. Connie Allen’s moist cake with a delicious frosting took the prize for the best cake.
Connie Allen provided assistance with most of the events.
The support by people from the community was very good on this nice warm fall day and everyone attending seemed to be having a grand time playing games or visiting with friends.
The next event in Clawson will be the annual Halloween Hayride on Oct. 31. In December there will be a town Christmas party.
