The Green River High Lady Pirates won their first region volleyball game of the season with a 3-2 win over Whitehorse. The scores were 15-25, 23-5, 25-16, 25-11 and 16-14.
After losing the first two games, one close and not so close, the Lady Pirates won three straight to grab the win.
Monticello leads region 19 with a 4-0 record while Green River is last with a 1-4 record. Whitehorse, Monument Valley and Pinnacle do not report their games as well as they should and those three teams region records are not readily known at this time although each has previous wins over the Pirate team.
The Lady Pirates will play at Monument Valley this Friday night. The Green River team has three region games remaining on their schedule and need to do well in order to qualify for the state tournament coming up soon.
Region 19 qualifies three outright for state with a fourth playing a play-in game against region 18’s fifth place team in order to get into the state tournament later this month at Orem.
