Tina Lacock Named to University Singers
Tina Lacock of Ferron has been named to Bob Jones University’s University Singers, BJU’s largest choral organization. Lacock is a Freshman majoring in Piano Pedagogy. All students at BJU are welcome to audition and are placed in a choral group according to their classification and abilities. Singers are re-auditioned periodically to determine proper placement.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to work with these talented musicians,” said Dr. Eliezer Yanson, who serves as conductor. “These young men and women from a variety of majors work diligently to glorify God through the talents He has given them.”
The University Singers, for the first time in its history, have been invited to perform in the Manhattan Concert Production’s (MCP) Debut Series in New York City’s renowned Carnegie Hall on May 10. The Debut Series is the most selective of all performance opportunities by the MCP which includes a stringent audition process. Not all ensembles that audition get invited to perform.
The choral program at BJU is a developmental program comprised of seven graded choirs. Performances include concerts of standard choral literature, sacred service music, and the annual opera and oratorio performances. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn to use music for the service of God and to reach his individual technical and artistic choral potential within a program that strives for the highest level of musical excellence.
Located in Greenville, S.C., Bob Jones University is a biblically faithful, Christian liberal arts university focused on educating the whole person to reflect and serve Christ.
BJU offers a unique blend of rigorous academic programs, discipleship, and character and leadership development. We are committed to the truth of Scripture and to pursuing excellence in all we do. BJU provides more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs in religion, education, fine arts and communication, arts and science, and business. BJU has nearly 3,000 students from every state and more than 40 countries.
