GREEN RIVER- Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Adelia Martin Hatch Newland, age 83, returned to her Heavenly Father on Nov. 17, 2014 and was welcomed into the waiting arms of her husband Bill.
Dee was born Aug. 24, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland to Ray Clark and Nellie Hayward Hatch.
Married the love of her life, William Francis Newland Feb. 14, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they made their home in Draper where she raised her children and taught in the Salt Lake School District for over twenty years. Bill preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2014.
Adelia was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints. She shared a deep love for her church and served faithfully in numerous callings. She graduated from Brigham Young University with her degree in Elementary Education. Dee loved children and was honored to have touched the lives of so many children. She valued education and continued writing poem’s in her later years.
She is survived by her children, Jeffery (Valerie) Newland, DeeAnn (Don) Meadows; sisters, Mary Watkins, Joan (Dick) Freed; brother-in-law, Robert (JoAnne) Newland; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill; infant son, James Clark; and sister, Betty Washburn.
Funeral service, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, 11 a.m., Green River LDS Ward. Family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment, Elgin Cemetery, Green River. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Adelia online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
