Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Veterans

Dear Editor,
I’d like to thank you and Joe Ann Chandler of Green River for providing all the pictures and names of Emery County Veterans, those still living and those who have passed on. Many of those whose pictures I saw were acquaintances, friends, and classmates during the years our family lived in Green River, from 1946 through 1957. Memories came flooding back.
One name I did not see was Jack Ross’s. Jack was the eldest son of Frank Ross and Dorothy Hastings Ross. Jack was a remarkable person and should be remembered. A fine student, he graduated from Green River High School around 1950, I believe. While attending Brigham Young University, he played basketball, married a wonderful girl, and was commissioned as an officer in the U. S. Force. He lost his life when his fighter jet exploded near Iceland during a mission. It was a sad day for Green River. Thanks for all the memories.
