Recent projects in Orangeville have reached completion.
At a recent meeting, Amanda Bennett was approved to rent the Orangeville Community Center from 3:30 to 6:30 on Mondays for $30 per month so she can give singing lessons.
On Sept. 4 the New Youth City Council was sworn in and decided they would do a service project each month.
The Tayte Webster Eagle Scout Project of pouring 100 feet of sidewalk at the Orangeville welcome park was discussed and approved. Jared, Colton and Colby Butler reported they would pour 300 feet of concrete after Tayte Webster finishes his project.
A new furnace for Orangeville City Hall will be purchased and installed by the successful bidder Bob Rojas-RAMS Industries.
Mayor Swenson explained the Recreation Board Funding is $3,500 for this year. It was suggested a new playground for younger children ages 0 to 5 would be a good use of that money.
The Orangeville City Bridge project began in October. Kent Wilson reported in December that the project had been completed and approved. That project consisted of dredging the big sandbar from under the bridge and raising riverbanks along that part of the river to keep flooding out of Orangeville residences.
Andrew Gilson came before the City Council to report that he had completed his Eagle Scout Project at the Welcome Park on November 5th. Mayor Swenson indicated that this was a welcome addition to the park and thanked those Scouts who had worked on these projects.
The Council discussed and approved the need for remodeling and upgrading the city council room. The council room needs new paint, carpet and chairs.
Carol Stilson reported that last month the Youth City Council and Beautification Committee did some clean up around the city. They also helped with the carnival at Cottonwood Elementary School.
Ben Orgill reported the sidewalk at the Welcome Park has been completed and he would like to see a gazebo installed in the park.
