HUNTINGTON-Our loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Velma Joy Kummer Jensen, age 68, passed away Dec. 19, 2014 at her home.
She was born February 14, 1946 in Park City, Utah to Kenneth William and Berneil Carter Kummer.
Married Charles L. Jensen, June 6, 1968 in Oregon. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2002.
Velma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a longtime resident of Huntington and dedicated employee of Energy West Mining. She loved her job, the employees and she eventually retired from the Huntington office. Velma was blessed with many longtime friends and acquaintances through her work.
She was an accomplished painter, who also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Velma attended the Emery Senior Center regularly where she liked to line dance and participate with the band. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, cooking and playing bunco. Velma shared a deep love for her family and she will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Christie Bennett, Castle Dale, Charlie Jensen, Huntington, Tessie Jensen, Huntington; seven sisters and one brother, Sharon (Leon) Crandall, Huntington, Mary Lynn Barkl, Phoenix, AZ, Dorene Bird, Roosevelt, Valerie (Greg) Winn, Park City, Christine (Robert) Nuila, Provo, June Beckwith, Phoenix, AZ, Kenny Kummer & Gina, West Valley, Kay (Gordon) Grange, Park City; nine grandchildren, Meriah, Britni, Amanda, Tiniesha, Tanner, Kyerstin, Shania, Ryker and Domonique; five great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles; sisters, Rilla May, Marcine and Kathryn B. Naranjo.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Huntington Stake Center. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Velma at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
