Emery swim team out swims Wildcats

The Emery High swim team swam to the Holiday break by defeating the Richfield Wildcats in a dual meet at the Emery Aquatic Center. Even though the Wildcats had almost double the winners in the meet, the Spartans won because of their overall depth in almost every event. Emery won the overall meet 294-262. The Emery ladies won 155-120 while the Emery men kept it close as the Wildcats edged them 142-139.
In this meet Laryssa Guymon was the only double winner for her team as she won both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke. Devin Wilson was the only individual winner for the Emery boys and 200-yard freestyle relay team was the only winner for the men. The relay team consisted of Daryl Guymon, Garret Stilson, Dakota Wright and Nate Gilbert.
Also winning for the girls were Kaitlyn Carter in the 50-yard freestyle as she led a sweep of the first four spots in the event. Shaylynn Rowley, Paytn Jeffs and Kaitlyn Sailing finished in that order in the 50.
Also winning for the ladies were Vivian Koo in the 100-yard freestyle and Madi Allinson in the 100-yard backstroke. Koo is a foreign exchange student going to Emery High this year. The 400-yard freestyle relay team also won for the ladies and the legs on that team were swum by Guymon, Carter, Allinson and Erin Oliverson.
The ladies 200-yard medley relay team finished second as did the 200-yard freestyle relay team. The medley relay team consisted of Allinson, Guymon, Carter and Sailing while the freestyle team consisted of Oliverson, Rowley, Jeffs and Sailing. The men’s 200-yard medley relay of Wilson, Kelven Childs, Levi Jensen and Guymon also finished second as did the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Wilson, Jensen, Kayden Parkins and Gilbert.
The relay team of Koo, Krista Wright, Tarryn Parkins and Valerie Chynoweth finished third in the 200-yard medley with the team of Koo, Laura Burke, Skylar Sitterud and Kaitlyn Gilson finishing third in the 200-yard free. The team of Wright, Parkins, Chynoweth and Rowley finished second in the 400-yard free.
For the men, the team of Parkins, Childs, Ethan Lemon and Alex Stilson finished third in the 200-yard free and the team of Wright, Stilson, Stilson and Zac Fauver finished third in the 400-yard free.
Also placing for the ladies were Oliverson, Wright and Gilson as they finished third, fourth and sixth in the 200-yard free. Allinson, Parkins and Sailing finished second, fourth and fifth in the 200-yard IM. Kaitlyn Carter finished third in the 100-yard butterfly. Rowley, Chynoweth and Burke finished second, third and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle. Wright, Oliverson, Gilson finished second, third and fifth in the 500-yard freestyle.
For the men’s team, Parkins, Jensen, Garret Stilson and Fauver finished second, third, fifth and sixth in the 200-yard free and Guymon and Wright finished third and fourth in the 200-yard IM. Gilbert, Tyeray Migliori, and Taigon Pulli finished second, third and fourth in the 50-yard free. Childs, Alex Stilson and Gilbert finished second, third and fourth in the 100-yar butterfly. Parkins, Wright and Garrett finished second, fourth and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Jensen, Alex Stilson and Lemon finished second, fourth and sixth in the 500-yard freestyle while Wilson, Fauver and Pulli finished third, sixth and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke. Childs, Guymon, and Lemon finished second, third and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, the final individual event of the day.
The Emery Aquatic Center is a great place for swim meets and will host the region again this season as the teams love to swim in this water. The team will also host one more multi-team meet before the region meet. Check the school calendar for exact dates.
