Emery wrestler McKoy Christiansen became the first wrestler ever invited to the annual all-star dual wrestling tournament from Emery High School held at Utah Valley University in the UCCU Center. The states wrestling coaches in each of the divisions, 1-A through 5-A, nominate just one on wrestler in each bracket and send them to Orem to wrestle.
Christiansen, with a season record of 37-3, represented 2-A at 120 pounds and defeated Union High’s Wyatt Perry, the 3-A representative. Last weekend the Emery wrestling team participated in the Gunnison Valley tournament. Christiansen at 120 pounds, Matt Mecham at 170 pounds, Ashton Dieli at 145 pounds and Ty Mecham at 220 pounds all went 9-0 in the two day tournament. Tel Gardner at 138 pounds went 7-2.
This Thursday Emery will wrestle at Duchesne and then on Friday and Saturday the Spartans will wrestle in the Rocky Mountain Rumble.
Last Thursday the Beaver wrestling team came to down and defeated the Spartans.
