The two Emery High swim teams easily won the Southern divisional titles at last week’s swim meet held at the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale. The teams are now preparing for the upcoming 2-A Utah State meet that will be held at BYU on Feb. 12. The boys scored 139 points with Delta in second place with 69 points followed by Grand with 41 points, Millard with 14 points and Wasatch Academy with 4 points. The girls scored 131 points to beat Grand who scored 79 points. Delta scored 21 points and Wasatch Academy scored 12 points. The Emery girls won seven out of eleven events on the day. Madi Allinson and Laryssa Guymon each won two individual events and Chyanne Carter won one. These three were also swimmers on Emery’s two winning relay teams.
Kelven Childs led the Emery boys’ team by winning two individual events and then the Emery team won all three relays as the boys won five of 11 events on the day.
Thirteen different swimmers scored points for the girl’s team in individual events and 13 different swimmers scored points for the boys. Madi Allinson won the 200-yard Individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke. Laryssa Guymon won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke. Chyanne Carter won the 200-yard freestyle. Kaitlyn Sailing joined these three on the winning 200-yard medley relay team. Kaitlyn Carter joined the three on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team.
Kelven Childs won the 100-yard butterfly race and the 100-yard breaststroke race. Kelven was also on the winning 200-yard medley relay team with Devin Willson, Daryl Guymon and Dakota Wright. Wilson, Guymon and Wright were joined on the podium by Nate Gilbert as members of the 200-yard freestyle relay team. Levi Jensen, Garrett Stilson and brother Alex Stilson along with Gilbert were members of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team.
Also scoring points for the girl’s team were Krista Wright, Valerie Chynoweth, Tarryn Parkins, Paytn Jeffs, Erin Oliverson, Jacie Huntington, Laci Hulse and Vivian Koo. Also scoring for the boys were Zac Fauver, Travis Fehlberg, Kayden Parkins, Tyeray Migliori and Ethan Lemon.
