Derald Francis Oliver, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 5, 2015. He was born on April 20, 1938 to Orcel LaVon Oliver and Minerva Gladys Hastings. He married the love of his life, Helene Fern Lott on June 20, 1958 in Huntington, Utah; marriage later solemnized in the St. George Temple on May 28, 1966. Together they had five children; Sharon Ann, Richard Wayne, Scott Derald, Betty Ann and Michael Todd.
Derald will be remembered as an avid hunter, fisherman, and off road enthusiast who loved his 1966 jeep, which he believed was indestructible. He loved looking for and finding ancient Indian artifacts. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a story to share. He was a kind and good man.
Derald was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He retired from the Hunter Power Plant on Dec. 24, 2002.
He is survived by his wife Fern Oliver of Castle Dale, sons Richard (Cindy) Oliver of Carbonville, Scott (Lori) Oliver of Huntington, Mike (Carla) Oliver of Farmington and a daughter Betty Oliver of Castle Dale, 14 grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Ann Oliver, his parents Orcel and Gladys Oliver, brothers LaMar Kearns and LeRoy Oliver, and a brother-in-law Ken Turpin.
Funeral services were held at the Fausett Mortuary, 720 N. Center St., Castle Dale on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment followed in the Huntington City Cemetery.
