The Emery High boys’ basketball team trailed the entire game until sophomore Bowdie Jacobsen drained a three-point shot with three seconds left on the game clock in a 2-A Utah State quarterfinal game Thursday and the game then went into overtime with the score tied at 66-66.
In the overtime period Emery jumped a seven point lead and then held onto win by the score of 78-73. Right before Jacobsen hit the shot to tie the game, senior Dillon Wilstead was fouled as he hit a three-pointer and made the free throw for the four-point play.
Emery ended the game with five players scoring in double figures with both Wilstead and Jacobsen ending the game with 15 points each. Tyson Roper scored 14 points, Koby Butler scored 12 points and Ridge Nielson scored 10 points. Three players fouled out of the game, Wilstead, Nielson and Kolton Butler.
Emery will now face South Summit Friday evening at 7:30 at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
