Searchers from Emery County Sheriff’s Office and Utah Highway Patrol located the body of a missing Santaquin man yesterday afternoon. Larry Burnett, age 71, left his home on March 8 and had not been heard from since. An attempt to locate was issued on March 11th.
ECSO dispatch received a call the morning of March 12 stating that the missing man’s vehicle had been located at the Horse Canyon Rest Area in Emery County. The Horse Canyon rest area is along SR-6 on the way to Green River. ECSO personnel were dispatched to the scene and started a ground search. Assistance was requested for the Utha Highway Patrol helicopter to aid in the search, with an ECSO detective on board.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., personnel in the helicopter located Mr. Burnett’s body just north of the rest area.
When the attempt to locate was issued, it indicated that the missing man was possibly suicidal.
However, when the body was recovered, there were no visible signs of trauma. The body of Larry Burnett has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause of death.
