On April 16, 2015, Richard LaMond Smith of Ferron Utah 90th Birthday will sneek up on him. He will be celebrating with his family at a later date.
It is told that LaMond was born in Delta, Utah, but we are still not sure that he wasn’t hatched out in the West Desert by the sunshine and the piss ants. Stories told by his cousin talks of days of yesteryear when she would make him a delicious cake just so she could ride his wonderful bike, the most beautiful bike in all the land as she told it. A jack of all trades, Daddy didn’t wait long before he began working in the hay mill in Delta, making money to spend on family and friends. After shall we say, an incident (something to do about a fire in the school house) he quit school and joined the United States Navy serving his Country with Honor and Pride.
LaMond has worked at everything from Hot Roofer, Mayor of Ferron, Water Master, Farmer, to his greatest love raising Polled Hereford Cattle. He is the world’s biggest flirt. His charm always present he was able to win the heart of Nellie Fern Belston, they married and were blessed with three children Linda, Randy and Becky. He knows no strangers, a two minute conversation with him and he knows more about you than you ever thought possible. He has always been the first one to come running whenever anyone needed a hand. Speaking of a hand he was not afraid to use it to make sure that we were taught right from wrong. If he had it, you needed it, it was yours. We are sure that he knows hunger because he would give the shirt off his back and his last meal. Many lessons have been taught in his 90 years and here’s to many more. He is adored by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and friends.
We LOVE you Daddy, Gpa, Bucket Ass, Grandpa, Handsome, Friend and Husband.
