Emery Track girls finish second/boys third in region

In preparation for this week’s final track meet at BYU on Friday and Saturday, the regions throughout the state of Utah held region track meets last week. Region 15 of which Emery High is a member held their final meet at North Sevier High School on Thursday and the Emery girls finished one point out of first place behind Grand High School and the Emery boys finished in third place behind San Juan and Grand.
The Grand girls scored 121 with Emery at 120 followed by North Sevier at 112, San Juan at 84, South Sevier at 38 and Wasatch Academy at 10. San Juan won the boys division by scoring 162 points followed by Grand at 100, Emery at 94, North Sevier at 64, Wasatch Academy at 37 and South Sevier at 30.
First for the Lady Spartans, they were led by eight first place finishes on the day. Ashlynn Allred in the 100 meters and the 200 meters, Erin Hurst in the 3200 meters and the 1600 meters and Paytn Jeffs in the high jump and the long jump were double winners for Emery and the three will be contenders in their events at the upcoming state meet. The Emery 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams also finished in first place. The 4×100 team consisted of Jeffs, Camrey Johnson, Laciejo Funk and Allred. The 4×400 team consisted of Jeffs, Hurst, Allyson Woolsey and Allred.
Camrey Johnson also placed second in the long jump and the 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. Laryssa Guymon finished second in the discus and fourth in the javelin. Chyanne Carter placed fifth in the discus and in the shot put. Funk was sixth in the 200 meters and Shaylynn Rowley was sixth in the javelin.
The Emery boys finished without a single event winner but placed well throughout most of the events to finish in third place. Ashton Dieli finished second in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles and Ty Mecham placed second in the shot put as these two had the best finishes for the Emery team.
In the 3200 meters, Ty Funk was third and Alex Stilson was sixth. In the 1600 meters, Funk was fifth. In the 100 meters, Beau Ivie was fourth and Logan Cox was sixth. Daryl Guymon finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles. In the 400 meter race, Cox was fourth and Matt Mecham was fifth. Guymon was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles and Jaron Murray was fifth. Cox was sixth in the 200 meters. Justin Jennings was third and Raymond Brazier was fourth in the high jump. Brazier was also fourth in the javelin. Nathan Potter was fourth in the shot put and Kasey Jones was third in the discus.
The Emery sprint relay team of Ivie, Dieli, Cox and Funk was third as was the 4×400 relay team consisting of Ivie, Jaxon Bradley, Funk and Mecham and the 4×100 relay team consisting of Charlie Turner, Guymon, Ivie and Jones.
