Castle Dale: Kerry LaRoy Willardson, age 84, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at his home. He was born Aug. 29, 1930 in Gunnison, Utah, one of eight children born to Marlin Earl and Lurany Roper Pickett Willardson. Kerry married Carol Elizabeth Simper in June of 1950. They were married for 16 years then divorced in 1966. He married Louise Bolles Scott on July 5, 1968 in Glenwood Springs, Colo., and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 16, 1975.
Kerry was born and raised in Gunnison, Utah. He worked as a coal miner for over 33 years. This profession took him and his family to Price, Glenwood Springs, Colo. and Castle Dale. He retired in 1988 after being injured in the mine. Kerry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully. His favorite calling was that of a home teacher. Kerry was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, being in the outdoors and working in his yard. He was a gifted craftsman and made numerous pieces of furniture that he shared with his family. He will be remembered as a hard worker, dependable and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He especially loved his grand and great grandchildren.
Kerry is survived by his wife Louise of Castle Dale, children, Kirk Leon (Arlene) Willardson of Castle Dale, Kathryn Marie Brongo of Macedon, N.Y., Pauline (Royden) Mendenhall of Draper, Brent (Cindy) Willardson of Canadaigua, N.Y., Wendy (Mark) Allen of Ontario, Calif., Jim (Jamie) Willardson of Meeker, Colo. and Michael (Jenny) Willardson of Olathe, Colo., 23 Grandchildren and 35 great Grandchildren, one brother, Allen Willardson of Gunnison, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brother and three sisters.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Castle Dale City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Friends and family may sign the guestbook and share memories of Kerry at www.fausettmortuary.com.
